Crunchyroll to Stream Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Starting October 11

The 'enhanced' version of the 2015 anime arrives with new cuts, re-recorded voice acting, and a complete reconstruction of the story.

Juan Castillo 5 October 2026

Crunchyroll announced this Monday that it will simulcast Dragon Ball Super: Beerus starting October 11. The series will be available in Japanese with English subtitles in the United States, Canada, Latin America (including Brazil), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

The Japanese television premiere will be that same day at 11:15 p.m. JST on Fuji TV and its affiliates. It takes over the timeslot left by One Piece, whose last episode of the year aired on September 27. In Japan, Amazon Prime Video and U-NEXT will have it 30 minutes after broadcast, at 12:15 a.m. JST.

Netflix will also offer it in the United States starting October 17. In other select regions, the start date is October 14. The first episode will screen earlier, on October 8, at the series' special panel at New York Comic Con.

Not Just Any Remake

When Akio Iyoku talked about the project, he made it clear that this is not a simple remaster. He said the work began a few years ago and that it is an "enhanced" edition of the Dragon Ball Super anime with a reconstruction of the story. The key word is ENHANCED, and the official announcement spells it out plainly: extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, complete re-rendering of all footage, re-recorded voice acting with new music and sound effects.

The intention, according to the statement, is to more accurately express Akira Toriyama's original idea and worldbuilding. Battle sequences receive special attention, with what they call "the ultimate visual expression" to deliver more power and immersion. In other words, this is not the typical re-airing to fill the schedule: it is a version rebuilt from the ground up.

The production team sums it up like this: "the Dragon Ball Super anime... is ready to begin anew as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in fall 2026."

The Beerus Arc, Once Again

The story places us several years after the battle against Majin Buu. Earth has regained a brief peace. Meanwhile, Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long, deep sleep. Even Kai and the Supreme Kai, aware of Beerus's power to destroy entire planets, watch his awakening with fear.

Beerus hears rumors about a Saiyan who defeated Frieza and suddenly appears before Goku. Earth is left in grave danger. Thus begins a cosmic battle between the God of Destruction and Goku with his allies, a conflict that will shake the entire universe.

The Beerus arc was already seen in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and then in the first episodes of Dragon Ball Super in 2015. That series ran for 131 episodes until March 2018. Now, Toei decides to retell that beginning with a reworked production. For those of us who grew up with the original Super, the question is obvious: does this reconstruction justify rewatching what we already know?

Staff and Music

Matsuto Seya is in charge of composition and series direction. Tadayoshi Yamamuro handles character design and chief animation direction. Kōichi Yamadera reprises his role as Beerus, something no fan with any sense would question.

MEGATERA・ZERO performs the opening theme "ONOGAMI." VK Blanka provides the ending theme "Kan Peki No Peki." Two names with weight in the current Japanese music scene.

The 2015 series aired at the time on Funimation and Crunchyroll, and the English dub came to Toonami in January 2017. Now the landscape is different: Crunchyroll centralizes the simulcast outside Japan and Netflix also enters the equation, albeit with a few days' delay in the United States.

Will you give this ENHANCED version a chance, or do you prefer to stick with the memory of the original Super? Let us know in the comments.
