Crunchyroll arrives in Korea with over 20 premieres for fall 2026

The platform launches its service with Korean subtitles, two subscription plans, and an in-person festival in Seoul.

Mariana García 8 October 2026

Crunchyroll took a big step in Asia. On October 8, the platform announced the official launch of its service in Korea, with Korean subtitles and a fully localized interface. Its arrival in the country comes with more than 20 new titles for the fall 2026 season, although the full list will be revealed later.

The platform already has several popular anime available in Korea, including One-Punch Man, Tower of God, Fire Force, and True Beauty. Movies like Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Part 1 are also available. It's a solid initial catalog for a market that consumes a huge amount of anime.

Two plans and a gaming extra

In Korea, Crunchyroll offers two subscription tiers. The Fan plan costs 9,900 won per month, while Mega Fan goes up to 10,900 won. The difference isn't huge, but the latter includes benefits that are worth it: offline downloads, simultaneous streaming on up to four devices, and access to more than 100 games.

That game catalog is one of Crunchyroll's differentiators compared to other platforms. It's not just anime on video: there's also music, events, and now a strong push into gaming within the ecosystem.

Self-classification and event in Seoul

Another important detail is that Crunchyroll was designated as a self-classification operator by Korea's Media Rating Board. This means it can classify the ratings of its own content following the organization's standards. For a platform that premieres simulcasts every week, it greatly speeds up the process.

The expansion isn't limited to digital. At the end of October, the first Crunchyroll Pop-up Festival will be held in Seoul, with special screenings, concerts, and spaces to try out merchandise and games. It's the first time they've done something like this in the country.

Akshat Sahu, Crunchyroll's director for Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, made it clear: "This launch is an important first step for Crunchyroll in Korea. From now on, we will expand our content library and simulcasts, while continuing to invest in service localization and in-person events so fans can experience anime even more closely."

For those who want to follow service news in Korea, the company set up official channels on Instagram and TikTok. We'll have to keep an eye out for the full fall premiere list, which still has no announcement date.
