Charisma Anime Premieres in January 2027 and Reveals First Key Visual
The Evil Line Records and Dazed project adds new animation directors and confirms its arrival on TBS.
The Chōjin-teki Share House Story Charisma project finally has a premiere window. The TV anime will arrive on TBS in January 2027, and to build excitement, they've already shared a new key visual along with more production staff members.
The news was confirmed this Sunday from the project's official X (formerly Twitter) account. Among the new names are Haru Watanabe and HANSEUNGAH as chief animation directors, and Tōru Fukushi as director of photography. They join the previously announced team, with Jōji Furuta directing at Pierrot Films.
Furuta is no stranger to the industry: he directed Bad Girl, ēlDLIVE, and the 2021 version of Shaman King. Shū Matsubara, the project's original creator, supervises and writes the scripts, while Evil Line Records handles the music. TBS Television is listed as a producer.
The project was born in 2021 from Evil Line Records—the label behind Hypnosis Mic—and the IP company Dazed. The premise revolves around 2D characters who embody different types of charisma, in the original sense of the term: elemental traits granted by the gods. They all live in a share house while aspiring to greater heights.
The voice cast has been confirmed for some time and is extensive. Katsumi Fukuhara plays Iori Motohashi, the charisma of obedience; Genki Okawa voices Terra, the charisma of self-love; Masahiro Yamanaka is Rikai Kusanagi, the charisma of order; and Kenta Hosoda plays Kei Sarukawa, the charisma of rebellion. The list continues with Saku Hyūga as Ohse Minato, Tomohisa Hashizume as Amahiko Tendō, and Yūki Ono as Fumiya Itō, the charisma of good and evil.
A Project That Goes Beyond Anime
Charisma is not a new franchise in Japan. It already has music releases and live concerts, so the anime arrives as the next natural step for an IP that has proven itself across different formats.
It also has two manga published by Kodansha. The first, Charisma: Kyō mo Heiwa Desu, is a yonkoma drawn by Rin Manda and Iori Irino that was serialized in Dessert magazine from January 2023 to December 2024, with two collected volumes. The second, Charisma: Charisma na Karera wa Charisma House de Karizumai-chū, was handled by Sō Tobita and published on the Comic Days website from February to December 2023, also with two volumes.
For now, there is no news about licenses for Latin America or which platform will distribute it outside Japan. With the premiere just around the corner, international announcements are expected to follow soon.
Will you give this anime a chance in January? Let me know in the comments if you already knew about the project or if this is the first time you've heard of it.
