At last, we have a date. The Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō anime will premiere in April 2027, and we can now watch its first promotional video. The production also confirmed four voice actors joining the main cast.

The series adapts the Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō manga, a mystery story that has surpassed 8.5 million copies in circulation. Everything revolves around a used bookstore in Kamakura: Biblia Koshodō. Shinokawa Shioriko, the owner, and Gora Daisuke, a young man who starts helping her, work there. Every old book that arrives at the store carries a secret, and they are the ones tasked with unraveling it.

The anime had already confirmed its two leads: Akasaki Chinatsu as Shinokawa Shioriko and Fukuhara Katsumi as Gora Daisuke. Now four more names join the cast, each with their character and a comment about the project.

  • Shinokawa Fumiya — voiced by Yamashita Seiichirō
  • Kashiwada — voiced by Nakata Jōji
  • Makinotō — voiced by Fukuyama Jun
  • Sasayama Kurumi — voiced by Uesaka Sumire

The PV finally lets us see Shioriko and Daisuke in motion, and it also introduces these four new characters. We hear their voices, and the tone of the video makes it clear that the adaptation is committed to the calm, mysterious atmosphere of the manga.

A team with experience in literary adaptations

Animation is handled by CloverWorks, a studio that has already given us productions like Bocchi the Rock! and Spy x Family. Direction is by Sakuma Kenichi, known for his work on Eromanga Sensei and Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu.

The script is written by Kakihara Yūko, who previously adapted works such as Chihayafuru and Orange. For a story that relies so heavily on dialogue and the details hidden in each book, her experience is a good sign.

Character design and animation direction are handled by Hibi Chise. Music is composed by Sakabe Tsuyoshi, and color design is by Nakamura Kazuko. The team is completed by Kanda Hikari as art director and Kakuda Chieko as sound director.

The actors talk about their characters

Yamashita Seiichirō, voice of Shinokawa Fumiya, said he was very happy to be part of a work he already knew. He described his character as a bright but reserved young man, very different from his sister Shioriko, and said he is interested in exploring the relationship between them.

Nakata Jōji, who plays Kashiwada, joked about his character: he seems calm, but his love for books and his strength as a seller are unmatched. He also mentioned how fun it was to work with Shioriko's energy and Daisuke's clumsiness.

Fukuyama Jun confessed that the project made him reconnect with reading. His character, Makinotō, is a rival of Kashiwada known as "the boar," and he put a lot of effort into conveying the love for books that defines him.

Uesaka Sumire, voice of Sasayama Kurumi, shared a curious anecdote: when she went to the audition, she realized her character was someone with a lot of vitality. She prepared thoroughly and, upon learning she had landed the role, celebrated with her family. She said Kurumi is a character who has given her a lot and that she will give her all to play her well.

The April 2027 premiere still leaves us a few months of waiting, but we already have the studio, the cast, and a first look at the animation. The Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō adaptation is shaping up to be one of the most interesting releases of the spring season.
