Kaho Maeda and Shinichi Maki became close friends through their shared love of reading. They were attracted to each other, but Kaho grew impatient with Maki, who didn't make a move to confess his feelings.

One day after school, Kaho returned to school to retrieve a forgotten item. There, she encountered Akira Kawashima, a notorious womanizer. Kawashima, who had secretly been eyeing Kaho, learned of her feelings for Maki.
