Rosemary Hotel Akishitsuari

Susumu Yamada is Japanese, but he has never lived in Japan. Because of his father's international work, he grew up in the United States, and the family has settled in Los Angeles. When Susumu fails his school promotion exam, his parents convince him to spend a gap year in Japan, staying at his uncle's apartment in a Western-style residence called the Rosemary Hotel.

But when he arrives, the Rosemary Hotel turns out to be a shabby, run-down building inhabited by an eccentric group of tenants: a pair of detectives, a spoiled girl who keeps a literary genius as a servant, and a trio of poor day laborers. With no money and nowhere else to go, Susumu moves in. During his stay, he and the other residents become involved in a mystery from the past, have an otherworldly encounter, and much more.
