パラノイア・スター
Paranoia Star gathers seven short stories by Suehiro Maruo, a collection in which conventional plots matter far less than the states of mind the pages describe. The pieces move through abnormal, hallucinatory territories and are steeped in a pervasive surrealism, so that what happens on the page often resists any simple summary.
Across the seven stories, the mind under strain becomes the real subject: perception breaks down and the line between the imagined and the real stops being reliable. The collection draws on the art and culture of 1920s and 1930s Japan and Germany, the imagery that shaped the author's own artistic style, and lets that imagery drift into horror.
Each story stands on its own, yet they share the same unstable atmosphere, where psychological unease and terror feed one another rather than resolve.
