A popular girl finds herself in an awkward situation when she owes money to an otaku. In a desperate attempt to get out of repaying him, she decides to act "moe," believing that adopting the cute and endearing traits of anime characters will make him forget the debt.

However, she soon realizes that understanding moe is much harder than she thought. Her attempts at acting cute come off as forced and clumsy, and she struggles to figure out what the otaku actually finds appealing. As she fumbles through her misguided plan, the comedic clash between her popular-girl persona and the otaku's world leads to a series of awkward and funny situations.

With her pride on the line and the debt still hanging over her head, she must navigate this unfamiliar territory. But the more she tries to be moe, the more she learns about the otaku culture she once looked down on—and maybe even about herself.
