In 2001, manga artist Kyouko Shimazu begins experiencing uncontrollable shaking in her right hand, which soon spreads to the entire right side of her body. Concerned, she visits multiple doctors, but they dismiss her symptoms, telling her to relax and rest. She stops drawing manga and sleeps more, yet the tremors only worsen.

For seven years, Shimazu goes from one doctor to another, a desperate search she calls "doctor shopping," trying to find an explanation for her deteriorating condition. Finally, she receives a diagnosis: Parkinson's disease, a long-term neurodegenerative disorder that will change her life and career forever.
