At the end of the Taisho period, two girls are raised in a geisha house in the Japanese colony of Manchuria, present-day northeastern China. Their lives are shaped by the traditions and expectations of the geisha world, set against the backdrop of a foreign land.
The outbreak of World War I brings profound changes to their environment, affecting the civilians around them. As the conflict unfolds, the girls must navigate the shifting social and political landscape, confronting the harsh realities brought by war.
