Four bored individuals spend their days drifting through life, their relationships half-hearted and their friendships meaningless. One day, they meet an old woman at a convenience store who offers them a mysterious job: work at her house for 20,000 yen each. The deal seems too good to be true, and they soon find themselves entangled in an unexpected situation.

In another story, Tomo falls in love with Nagase at first sight during the freshman ceremony. However, her hopes are dashed when she discovers that Nagase already has a girlfriend at another school. Tomo must navigate her feelings and decide whether to pursue a love that seems impossible.

Decades ago, a writer sold a mixed-race baby. When a reporter encounters the now-grown child, he cannot bear to leave her alone. He contemplates taking her to a province said to be filled with happiness, but the path to that destination is uncertain.
