Dr. Matoi and her staff move to Mars during the first stage of its colonization to research the planet's influence on the human psyche. Only workers inhabit the remote outpost, and some claim to suffer from peculiar ailments that cause strange recurring dreams.
Once on the planet, Dr. Matoi herself begins to experience the symptoms, dreaming repeatedly of a particular library. A chance case leads her to discover the reason behind the disturbances, but the truth may cost her her sense of reality.
