Hikari Hoshino grew up traveling with her father, Ginji, an itinerant painter. After his death, she is taken in by her uncle, Kintaro, who runs Hoshino Kindergarten. There, she begins a new life with her four adopted siblings: Mikihisa, Hiiro, Asagi, and Sumire, along with the other children at the kindergarten.
However, the adopted children have mixed feelings about the sudden appearance of a blood relative of the Hoshino family. Hikari must navigate these complicated relationships while finding hope and a place to belong in her new home.
