In Ooedo, Japan, during the era of geishas and public houses, young women from poor provincial families had few prospects for a successful marriage. The only way to improve their financial and social standing was to move to the city of wealthy clans, becoming a servant or a geisha, and perhaps the lover of a rich feudal lord. Ushizu, a young and impoverished girl, chooses this path.
As she navigates her new life, the series also serves as a guide to sexual positions, with each episode ending with a description of various techniques inspired by the Japanese Kama Sutra.
