Adolpho has dedicated his life to serving God, but his devotion is shaken when he meets Michaella, a village girl who is already engaged. After a seemingly innocent encounter, Adolpho begins receiving midnight visits from a hedonistic devil that bears a startling resemblance to Michaella. Confused and torn between his faith and his newfound desires, Adolpho decides to confront Michaella about his feelings.
