Mikio returns to his hometown for the first time in six months. His first stop is the traditional Japanese onsen inn run by Yukino Chitose, his childhood friend and former lover. Despite the time apart, Chitose retains a youthful appearance, though her traditional attire now accentuates a more mature and beautiful aura.
That night, after finishing his business, Mikio goes looking for her. Following the sound of her voice, he finds himself at an outdoor bath. Peering through a gap in the bamboo fence, he is shocked to discover her intimate moment with another man.
