Tsutomu lives with his older brother's wife, Mai, helping her run the family flower shop after his parents' passing. With his brother constantly away for work, Mai is left feeling profoundly lonely, a void Tsutomu begins to notice and feels compelled to fill.
Their intimate arrangement is observed by Kozue, Mai's friend and a new part-time employee at the shop. Kozue, herself neglected by a frequently absent husband, finds herself envious of the connection between Mai and Tsutomu.
